Aug 1 – Sep 8 all-day

The Library Place at Pittsburgh Mills is hosting a “Casual Summer Reading Program” for all ages from June 23-July 31. Sign up today so that you can win prizes.

We have something for everyone with our different kind of summer reading program. There are no meetings, no assigned material. There are options for adults, teens, and kids.

KIDS
For every 10 books you read, you will earn a coupon for free hamburger, apple slices, and jug of milk from McDonald’s. There is no limit for how many of these rewards you can earn. We do ask that at least 2 of each group of 10 be checked out from our library.

ADULTS & TEENS

Stop in The Library Place at Pittsburgh Mills and fill out an entry slip for each book you read. Winning entries will be drawn for prizes.

To participate via our Facebook page, find us by searching “Library Place at Pittsburgh Mills” and “LIKE” us. Join in the ongoing conversation about what books you like, which ones you don’t like, and the reasons why. Watch for frequent “Discussion Questions” and feel free to ask your own.

Lifetree Café @ Trinity United Christian Church
Aug 28 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Strategies for coping with difficult times will be shared at Lifetree Café. The program, titled “Bouncing Back: Turning Disasters Into Opportunities,” features a screening of the award-winning short film, Dancing Outside the Box. The film features Ray Leight, whose near-fatal motorcycle accident left him permanently in a wheelchair.

“You’re 20 years old and think you’ve got your whole life ahead of you. The next thing you know, tubes are sticking out of you, and doctors are telling you they know how you feel. Let me take a baseball bat to you—then you’ll know how I feel,” Leight said.

Leight’s months of depression turned toward hope when a friend invited him to attend a ballroom dancing class. Participants in the Lifetree program will explore how to overcome the challenges in their lives by applying the principles learned by Leight.

Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Snacks and beverages are provided. Lifetree Café is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual coffeehouse-type setting.
